Our first battlefield stop is Manassas, VA where we experience the first major battle in the War. We discover the challenges of organizing and operating large-scale armies with raw troops. Also, we see where and why Thomas Jackson earned his famous nickname “Stonewall” and we consider the impact of his faith in Christ on his men.

Next we move to the battle of Fredericksburg. We will visit the famed stone wall which the Confederates defended; stand in the area where the men of Union generals Hooker and Sumner made the brave but bloody charge up Marye’s Heights; consider the gruesome scene on that same hill Joshua Chamberlain describes in his book, "Bayonet Forward;" walk Prospect Hill where Stonewall Jackson and his troops saved the battle; and visit Hamilton’s Crossing, the catalyst location of the last large-scale, legitimate revival in America.

Finally, we cover the Battle of Chancellorsville. Considering the complex five-front battle which spanned five days, we discuss the challenges of managing a multi-front assault; go to the spot where Lee and Jackson met for the last time and discuss their remarkable relationship; cover Jackson’s world-renowned flank march that is still studied by military academies and armies all over the world; and go to the site of the bloodiest morning of the War.

Does Lead With Character profit from the trips?

We do not make money putting on the trips or clear any profit from ticket sales. In fact, donors subsidize each ticket to keep costs down.

We know the ticket prices are still significant. What you gain from the trip will be worth the cost many times over.

Are there scholarships available?

Tickets are already subsidized, but in special cases where cost is the only prohibiting factor, there may be scholarship funds available to reduce the cost a bit more.
